HopSkipDrive brings safe youth transportation to Dallas-Fort Worth

Hello, Metroplex!

HopSkipDrive is proud to announce that CareDrivers are out on the road serving Dallas-Fort Worth area families and schools.

As the first transportation network purpose-built for kids, and with millions of safe miles traveled from coast to coast, HopSkipDrive comes to DFW with a track record that families and schools can trust. Our innovative safety measures include deep driver vetting, unmatched parental visibility, and a dedicated Safe Ride Support team who monitors every ride in real time. Whether you’re a busy parent who just needs one ride a week to make things work or a school district administrator with semester-long series of trips to arrange, HopSkipDrive couples simple logistics with cutting-edge safety systems and peace of mind.

The Dallas-Fort Worth launch marks HopSkipDrive’s 12th market across seven states, which also include Arizona, California, Colorado, Virginia, Washington, and the District of Columbia. In Texas, HopSkipDrive also arrived in Houston last month. At launch, we will be available in North Dallas, East Dallas, and North Fort Worth, with plans to quickly expand throughout the metro area.

Why Dallas-Fort Worth? According to a recent study, Dallasites spent an average of 76 minutes a day in traffic congestion in 2018. Increased traffic on the roadways means greater difficulty for parents when trying to transport their children to and from school, while also being at work on time every day.

“DFW is a young, vibrant city that continues to attract busy, working parents,” said Joanna McFarland, Co-Founder and CEO of HopSkipDrive. “With more people flocking to DFW than any other metropolitan area in the country, the Metroplex is in need of more dependable and flexible transportation solutions for families. We’re excited to give parents peace of mind and provide families with safe, reliable rides throughout the region.”

In addition to providing relief for busy parents and families, HopSkipDrive also helps schools and districts overcome student transportation challenges for those not easily routed on buses, including school-of-origin transportation for homeless students and youth in foster care. DFW is home to 112 school districts that serve over 1.3 million students, and many of these students will find themselves without reliable transportation to and from school, putting kids at risk of chronic absenteeism. According to another recent study, in Dallas ISD alone, more than 18,000 kids were chronically absent—more than any other city in the state.

Keller Independent School District in Tarrant County is among the districts already working with HopSkipDrive. “Keller Independent School District is excited to partner with HopSkipDrive,” said Leigh Cook, Director of Federal Programs & Academic Compliance at Keller ISD. “Not only will this help to reduce the district’s overall transportation costs, but offering this service to students with specialized transportation needs will help to shorten commute times—meaning less time in transit and more time learning.”

CareDriver Natalie Guzman told the Dallas Morning News what she loves about being a CareDriver. “I have flexibility and I like that … you can choose to align yourself with businesses that satisfy a personal purpose,” Guzman said. “[HopSkipDrive] matched a story I enjoyed, which is being able to serve people I was once.”
