What started off as a way to earn some extra cash quickly turned into something much more for Sharra Kliebenstein, who discovered that being a HopSkipDrive CareDriver holds a much deeper meaning. She loves the experience so much, in fact, that she has already completed almost 350 rides since being activated as a CareDriver just a few months ago.

 

**Where do you live, and what market do you drive in?**

I live in Oceanside, California, and I drive in the [San Diego market](https://www.hopskipdrive.com/drive/san-diego-ca/).

**What made you decide to become a HopSkipDrive CareDriver?**

My initial interest in HopSkipDrive was to earn extra cash making my own hours. I see it much differently now!

**What makes you a good fit for the work you do as a CareDriver?**

I’ve always been told I have a gift for gab (in a good way). I love hearing stories Riders have to share and, from time to time, being able to share my perspective or give a little advice. Many of these Riders are so intelligent!

**What would you say are the most important things you gain from being a HopSkipDrive CareDriver?**

Patience, friendship and listening skills.

**Have you learned anything surprising from your Riders? **

I’ve learned that the age of a child does not define their intelligence.

**What advice would you give to someone who is thinking about becoming a HopSkipDrive CareDriver? **

To realize the gift of a child’s heart. Be patient with them, and never judge them. HopSkipDrive is definitely for individuals who take joy in driving and who appreciate children.

**How important do you think HopSkipDrive’s mission (to create opportunity for all through mobility) is, and why?**

HopSkipDrive’s mission is extremely important, especially for children with special needs. 

**What do you like most about being a  CareDriver?**

After being a HopSkipDrive CareDriver on a daily basis, I find this opportunity to be extremely rewarding in so many ways. I have the opportunity to meet new children who have different personalities, needs and circumstances in life. 

I honestly feel aligned in this work because of my love and admiration for children. Not only do I feel I am making an imprint on their lives, but they absolutely are making an imprint on mine.
