Pricing and Payment Terms

Applicable fees may include:
- Ride Fees. You will be charged a fee for each Ride completed by a Driver except in the case of ShuttlePass fees, which are paid in advance (in either event, “Ride Fees”). Ride Fees vary based on the particular Ride in question and can be estimated for Rides other than ShuttlePass Rides using the HopSkipDrive Fare Estimator LA/OC Fare Estimator Bay Area Fare Estimator. When scheduling a Ride other than a ShuttlePass Ride through the Service, you will be quoted an estimate of the applicable Ride Fees before you confirm your ride request. The estimate is based on factors including the amount of time it is anticipated to take to perform your Ride and the estimated travel distance of your Ride. Your actual Ride Fees for any given Ride other than a ShuttlePass Ride may vary from these estimates if it takes longer to perform your Ride (e.g., if the Driver has to wait if a Rider delay the pick-up and/or departure time, or increased Ride time due to traffic delays), or the distance travelled during your Ride is greater than anticipated (e.g., if a detour is required to avoid adverse road conditions). Your Ride Fees for a Ride other than a ShuttlePass Ride may also vary if you change your pick-up time after confirming your Ride reservation, or if your Driver is late for your scheduled pick-up time. For shorter rides, minimum Ride Fees may apply. All Ride Fees are based on actual time and estimated distance travelled.
-Booking Fee. HopSkipDrive will assess a per-ride “Booking Fee” to offset operational costs.
-Cancellation Fee for Non-ShuttlePass Rides. You can cancel anytime up to 8 hours before your ride with no cancellation fee. If your ride has been matched to a CareDriver and you cancel anytime from 1 to 8 hours before your ride, the cancellation fee will be 50% of your estimated fare. If you cancel less than 1 hour before your ride, you will be charged the full estimated fare. This allows us to make sure CareDrivers are fairly compensated for the time they’ve committed to safely getting your child where they need to go. If you cancel before a CareDriver has been matched to your ride, there is no cancellation fee.
-Damages. You acknowledge and agree that HopSkipDrive may, and you authorize HopSkipDrive to, charge your Payment Method for any damages incurred by your Driver that were caused by a Rider during a Ride, as determined in HopSkipDrive’s sole discretion.
-No Refunds. All fees and payments are non-refundable and non-transferable except if and as expressly provided in these Terms. While HopSkipDrive has no obligation to provide refunds or credits relating to any Rides, it may do so in HopSkipDrive’s sole discretion.
-Promotions. HopSkipDrive, in its sole discretion, may make available promotions with different features to any of our Users. These promotions or offers to participate in a promotion, unless made to you, are inapplicable to these terms or your relationship with HopSkipDrive.
-Taxes. All amounts referred to in the Terms, including those set forth through the Services, are stated in U.S. dollars and do not include any taxes. You will be responsible for the payment of any taxes applicable to any payments made hereunder, except taxes based on HopSkipDrive’s income or the income of the Drivers.
-Changes. HopSkipDrive reserves the right to change the type and amount of fees charged Users by providing you at least seven (7) days prior notice via the Services, including by updating this page.
As a “Driver” (as defined in the Terms), your sole compensation for the provision of Rides will be applicable Ride Fees received from the Member upon completion of the Ride and subject to these Terms, including, without limitation, the deduction of the HopSkipDrive Services Fee, the Booking Fee and a portion of the Cancellation Fee. Ride Fees vary based on the particular Ride in question, as described above.
Authorization. Following the completion of each Ride, you hereby authorize HopSkipDrive to: (i) collect (or have collected by HopSkipDrive’s third party payment processor) the Ride Fees from the applicable Arranger on your behalf, which may include a deduction from an amount previously credited to such Arranger’s Account (“Account Credit”); (ii) retain a percentage of such Ride Fees (“HopSkipDrive Services Fee”) in consideration for your access to the Services, (iii) retain the Booking Fee and a portion of any Cancellation Fee, and (iv) address potential problems relating to the performance of the Ride in any manner we deem appropriate, including, without limitation, refunding the Ride Fees to the applicable Arranger. When a Ride is completed, the Ride Fees for such Ride will be automatically charged to the Arranger’s Payment Method and placed with HopSkipDrive’s third party payment processor, or deducted from the Arranger’s Account Credit. With the exception of the Arranger’s Services Fee, Booking Fee, and portion of the Cancellation Fee, the Account Credit or funds collected by HopSkipDrive’s third party payment processor do not belong to HopSkipDrive.
-Payment. Following HopSkipDrive’s third party payment processor’s receipt of the Ride Fees, HopSkipDrive’s third party payment processor will remit to the Driver the applicable Ride Fees less the HopSkipDrive Services Fee, Booking Fee and portion of the Cancellation Fee to the Driver’s designated payment account, and funds will only be passed on to the Driver when payment has been collected from the applicable Arranger. Where the Ride Fees are being paid from an Account Credit, HopSkipDrive will remit to the Driver the applicable Ride Fees less the HopSkipDrive Services Fee, a portion of the Cancellation Fee, and the Booking Fee to the Driver’s designated payment account when the Ride is completed. If the Arranger’sAccount Credit is not sufficient to cover the Ride Fees, HopSkipDrive will first deduct the available Account Credit and then charge the remaining amount to Arranger’s Payment Method. Under no circumstances will any payment be due to the Driver for a Ride where the applicable Arranger has not paid for such Ride, whether through an available Account Credit or an Arranger’s Payment Method. The Driver is responsible for providing complete and accurate billing and contact information to us. All monies paid to the Driver will be paid in U.S. dollars.
Except for the Ride Fees (less the HopSkipDrive Services Fees, Booking Fee and portion of the Cancellation Fee) as expressly set forth in these Terms, there shall be no charge or fees payable by HopSkipDrive to Driver for Driver’s performance of its obligations hereunder or under a Ride Contract.
Payment processing for Drivers is provided by Stripe and are subject to the Stripe Connected Account Agreement], which includes the Stripe Terms of Service] (collectively, the “Stripe Services Agreement”). By agreeing to the Terms or continuing to use the Services, you agree to be bound by the Stripe Services Agreement, as the same may be modified by Stripe from time to time. As a condition of HopSkipDrive enabling payment processing services through Stripe, you agree to provide HopSkipDrive accurate and complete information about you, and you authorize HopSkipDrive to share it with Stripe, along with the transaction information related to your use of the payment processing services provided by Stripe.
-No Reimbursement. HopSkipDrive will not reimburse you for any expenses incurred by you in connection with providing Rides. You are solely responsible for all costs incurred by you in using the Services and providing Rides (including, without limitation, the upkeep of your vehicle and any fees or fines incurred while driving or parked after having claimed or during the course of a Ride) and determining, collecting, reporting and paying all applicable state and federal sales, income and other taxes, except that HopSkipDrive may, in its sole discretion, reimburse you for tolls.
-Promotions. HopSkipDrive, in its sole discretion, may make available promotions with different features to any of our Drivers or prospective Drivers. These promotions or offers to participate in a promotion, unless made to you, are inapplicable to these terms or your relationship with HopSkipDrive.
-Taxes. Drivers are responsible for reporting to all applicable government agencies as income all payments received pursuant to the Terms. You will be solely responsible for payment of all withholding taxes, social security, workers’ compensation, unemployment and disability insurance or similar items required by any government agency for any payments received by you pursuant to these Terms. If applicable, HopSkipDrive will report or cause such reporting by a third party payment processor the payments paid to Driver under this Agreement by filing Form 1099-MISC with the Internal Revenue Service as required by law. Driver will comply with all applicable federal, state, local, and foreign laws governing self-employed individuals, including laws requiring the payment of taxes, such as income and employment taxes, and social security, disability and other contributions.
-Changes. We may change these payment terms, including with regard to the HopSkipDrive Services Fee, at any time, in our sole discretion, by providing you at least seven (7) days’ prior notice via the Services, including by updating this page.
