Hoping to become a HopSkipDrive CareDriver?
HopSkipDrive creates opportunity for all through mobility.
We’re a technology company that solves complex transportation challenges where there is a heightened need for safety, equity, and care. Through our marketplace, we connect kids, older adults, or anyone needing extra support to highly vetted caregivers on wheels. Through our software, we solve the biggest transportation challenges facing schools and school districts around the country.
When it comes to safety, we are never ‘done’ - we continuously set and raise the bar. We relentlessly innovate using technology, data, and human expertise to keep all of our users safe.
We strive to have empathy and compassion for our customers, teams and their communities by putting ourselves in others’ shoes to understand their needs, deliver outcomes that make a difference, and meet people where they are.
We are obsessed with delivering extraordinary customer experiences. We go above and beyond to build trust and make our customers’ lives easier.
We are curious, constantly experimenting, testing assumptions and challenging the status quo. We hold ourselves accountable to continuous improvement, seizing opportunities to solve complex problems, knowing this requires bold and creative thinking.
We act quickly, with deep urgency. We don’t cut corners, but we value progress over perfection.
We foster healthy debate and encourage diverse perspectives to uncover the best solutions while remembering there’s no room for jerks. We take ownership, act with integrity, and celebrate our collective successes. Best idea wins.
Helping to create opportunity for all through mobility sounds pretty impactful, but how does it feel? Hear directly from a few folks who #FeelIt every day.
“I am most proud of being able to make a direct impact on a student’s life with just one phone call. Knowing that a single conversation can change the trajectory of their school experience and ensure they get the safe transportation they need is incredibly rewarding. Every small interaction brings me closer to making a meaningful difference in the lives of students who need it the most.”

I’m encouraged to tap into my existing potential and equipped with the resources to learn new skills.”

“I’m proud to have the opportunity to build a modern data warehouse here. As the company grows, data volume and complexity increase, necessitating scalable and efficient data infrastructure. This ensures faster processing, improved data quality, and enhanced adaptability. It’s rewarding to support informed decision making that allows our organization to stay competitive in a data-driven landscape.”

HopSkipDrive’s headquarters is located in Los Angeles’ Little Tokyo district. We love this space, team members across L.A. frequent it, and some dispersed teams gather here periodically for moments of collaboration and connection.
However, we believe strongly that most roles allow for a remote-first approach to work. We support employment across the U.S. and employee flexibility to accommodate personal commitments, which we believe ultimately leads to a more inclusive and diverse workforce.
We aim to provide best-in-class interviewing experiences to all candidates, regardless of whether they’re hired or not. We hold all hiring team members to expectations including completing comprehensive interview and bias training, asking consistent and competency-based questions, and providing objective candidate feedback. These steps help us to provide as consistent and unbiased an interview process as possible.
In most scenarios, candidates can expect either five interview stages (for salaried roles) or three interview stages (for hourly roles). The details below provide a peek into our standard categories of interviews, though we know different jobs may have different needs.
If your resume and application answers are aligned with the role, a talent team member will move you to this first step. The two of you will have a 20–30-minute introductory phone call to discuss your career interests and professional experiences, and to provide an overview of the company and role. They will also review the next steps of the process and what to expect moving forward.
This stage is an opportunity to connect 1:1 via video call with the hiring manager. We recommend researching their background and the company beforehand. This call has two primary outcomes: You have the opportunity to further share skills that are aligned with the job post, and you learn more about the role and the team.
Depending on the nature of the role, you may be asked to complete a take-home assessment (e.g. technical task, hypothetical case study) to demonstrate your written, analytical, and/or technical skills as relevant to the position. Your recruiter will provide detailed instructions, guidelines, tips, and best practices. [Reminder: This step is role-specific.]
During this interview, you’ll meet two to four future teammates or cross-functional partners who will focus on evaluating core competencies of the role. Come prepared to share specific examples of relevant scenarios from your previous roles, and with questions tailored to the group. Why meet everyone at once? We want you to meet numerous people and give you the opportunity to assess company culture while being respectful of your time, which is why we consolidate two-plus hours of interviews into one.
We’re continuously growing, so for the sake of ongoing accuracy we’ll share that we have between 350–500 employees. HopSkipDrive is a Series D company and has raised $100M in funding to date. We’ve now facilitated more than 3.3 million rides and operate across 13 states around the country.
Our business currently operates in over 13 states across the country including California, Washington, Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, Texas, Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Indiana, Tennessee, and Missouri. We’re continuously expanding into more and more counties, providing them with safe, flexible, reliable transportation solutions.
Our employees are located across the United States, with “hubs” (locations with five or more employees) in cities like Denver, New York City, Houston, and Nashville. We do not yet hire in all 50 states, but our job descriptions provide the most up-to-date list of the states we do hire in.
HopSkipDrive supports over 10,000 schools across the country, as well as nonprofits and government agencies. Our partners and points of contact have a wide range of titles including student transportation professionals; special education leaders; homeless and Foster liaisons; and child, family, welfare, and social service professionals.
We also partner directly with individuals, be those family members or caregivers. People can utilize HopSkipDrive for any transportation opportunity that benefits from safe, flexible, reliable transportation solutions. Think soccer practice, tutoring, a playdate, or a lift between family member’s homes — we’ve got them all covered.
We’ve implemented a number of strategies to support our distributed workforce, including but not limited to a social committee that organizes moments of connection; peer recognition tools for celebrating each other’s wins and awarding gift cards; Slack communities around common interests; remote summer/holiday parties; and a “hub program” to connect employees who live in the same area and fund in-person gatherings in areas with five or more employees. We’re always seeking new and innovative ways to encourage moments of remote connectivity.
Absolutely! Although we don’t share the personal contact information of our interviewers, your recruiter will always forward along any follow-up you’d like to send.
Our priority is creating a more diverse and inclusive workplace, and we are committed to equal employment opportunities. If you require a reasonable accommodation to complete a job application, please let us know by sending an email with your name, the role to which you would like to apply, and the type of support you will need to complete the application. You can reach us at interviewaccommodations@hopskipdrive.com, and you should expect to hear back from us within one business week. However, non-disability related requests, such as following up on an application, will not receive a response.
We’re honored to receive recognition for our technology, impact, service, and culture.
