HopSkipDrive arrives in Kansas City, Missouri!

HopSkipDrive is launching service in Kansas City, Missouri! We’re excited to be partnering with North Kansas City Schools, KIPP KC Endeavor Academy and others in the area to expand options for getting students to and from school and other related activities.

HopSkipDrive’s network of small vehicles and the platform’s dynamic driver availability fill gaps in transportation access by allowing school districts to support individual students, including students who are experiencing homelessness or living in foster care; students with disabilities and those with Individual Education Plans (IEPs); and students who are enrolled in career technical education programs that take place off campus.

North Kansas City Schools will be working with HopSkipDrive to fulfill the transportation needs of career tech students who are participating in “Real World Learning” — a Kansas City initiative that supports hands-on learning experiences for students in partnership with regional businesses, which serve to help students get a head start on achieving their career goals.

“Transportation is the gateway to boundless opportunities for students who are participating in internships and career and technical education programs,” says Christy Collins, Director of College and Career Pathways at North Kansas City Schools. “Partnering with HopSkipDrive to arrange reliable transportation for these students will fuel their journey towards gaining hands-on experience and practical knowledge that will drive their success in the real world.”

“At the core of our company's mission lies the unwavering commitment to facilitating access to a world of educational and transformative opportunities for every student,” emphasizes Joanna McFarland, Co-founder and CEO of HopSkipDrive. “We’re proud to work alongside school leaders, offering a solution that not only addresses the critical need for student transportation but also prioritizes safety and reliability. We’re looking forward to continuing to grow with Kansas City as we work together to support kids and families.”

HopSkipDrive is launching in Kansas City, Missouri, after the passage of Senate Bill 681 last session, championed in part by State Representative Kurtis Gregory (District 51). The legislation removed barriers for small vehicle transportation in the state, fostering a modern regulatory framework for companies like HopSkipDrive.

“I am thrilled to see HopSkipDrive coming to Missouri, bringing safe and reliable transportation to schools, kids, and families around our state,” said Representative Gregory. “Our school districts always need more options to continue their important work of supporting students. I advocated to change Missouri’s law to adapt to modern realities while prioritizing the safety and well-being of our communities, and I’m grateful to my colleagues across our Legislature for their partnership throughout the process of the passage of SB 681.”
