CareDriver of the Month: Lisa S.

Please introduce yourself!

My name is Lisa S.

When did you begin driving?

On April 14, 2018.

How many trips have you completed?

553 trips.

Favorite Moment on the Road?

So many to choose from! One experience that jumps out is a ride that I completed just before the Thanksgiving holiday. When I checked in for the ride, I noticed that the name of the Rider was familiar as I know his parents. When I picked the Rider up from school, he let me know that it was his first ride with HopSkipDrive and I told him to let me know if he had any questions. I told him on the way to the car that I knew his parents, and he quickly said, “That’s what they said about you last night when they saw on the app that you were my driver.”

Since we broke the ice before I even started my car, the Rider took me up on my offer to answer any of his questions – he quizzed me about HopSkipDrive, driver qualifications and safety precautions for the whole 45-minute ride. He was fascinated by the technology and wanted to know if someone in LA was monitoring our conversation as well as the trip. I assured him that the great HopSkipDrive staff in LA were not monitoring our conversation – only time, speed, hard braking, risky phone use, and rapid acceleration. I was more than happy to entertain all of his questions!

What’s your favorite thing about being a CareDriver?

I love meeting and connecting with people everywhere I go! Over the past year that I have been a CareDriver in Denver, I have enjoyed getting to know the other CareDriver’s, Riders and sometimes even meeting the parents or organizer. Everyone that I have encountered has been extremely appreciative of my time and the service. I have a few regular riders that I try to pick up whenever it works with my schedule, and it is great to connect with them to see how they are doing and what is new! While the majority of my 500+ rides have been young kids and teens, I have also driven a few seniors including an 89-year-old man that loves using HopSkipDrive!

What do you do in your spare time?

I love spending time with family and friends in my spare time – attending sporting events, trying new restaurants, playing games (currently bunco and Mahjong) and traveling whenever I have the chance. I also like to swim, walk and recently started learning to play pickleball. I have been somewhat strategic with scheduling my rides – mainly to squeeze in time to walk in my favorite Denver parks before, between or after my trips.
